Salamo Arouch was a Jewish boxer of Greek descent who survived the Holocaust in Auschwitz thanks to his boxing talent, entertaining the Nazis with boxing matches. A movie about his life, "Triumph of the Spirit," was released in 1989. Salamo Arouch was born in 1923 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
